Aujourd’hui, je vous parle de THE pièce de théâtre à voir à Londres, l’excellente Don Juan in Soho de Patrick Marber, avec, dans le rôle-titre, David Tennant et dans celui de Stan (anciennement Sganarelle dans la version originale) le formidable Adrian Scarborough. Les esprits sensibles et puritains risqueront de ne pas apprécier cette interprétation obscène, cette profanation souillante de Molière. Les autres passeront la meilleure soirée qu’il leur sera donné de passer au théâtre cette année.

Last week I was in London to see a few plays. Didn’t get a ticket to Moriarty and Lady Sibyl’s Hamlet but I did get a few other ones, including one for Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead by Tom Stoppard at The Old Vic theatre. Since I decided to read the play before seeing it to be sure to understand it all, I’ve decided to mix the literary chronicle with the Theatre one this time – and for all the plays I saw that week.

Und d’Howard Barker : ode à la fin d’un massacre au CDRT

C’est toujours embarrassant d’écrire qu’on n’a pas aimé quelque chose. C’est d’ailleurs bien pour ça que généralement j’évite simplement de vous parler de ce qui ne me plaît pas. Mais là c’était tellement une expérience théâtrale catastrophique pour moi, et c’est encore si chaud que je ne peux m’en empêcher. Je sors du Centre dramatique régional de Tours, où je viens de voir Und d’Howard Barker, et je me suis tellement ennuyée que, pour la première fois de ma vie, je me suis endormie au théâtre.

Théâtre : 24h de la vie d’une femme avec Pascale Bouillon

Hier soir je suis allée au théâtre Le Guichet Montparnasse avec ma petite sœur pour voir une adaptation de 24h de la vie d’une femme de Stefan Zweig, avec Pascale Bouillon. C’était vraiment chouette et j’ai donc voulu vous en parler rapidement car cette pièce n’est jouée que le jeudi pour trois semaines encore.

Matilda the musical: come in as an adult, leave as a naughty maggot (and possibly in love with the doctor)

I was supposed to see Matilda, the musical, last year. But sad things happened, I had to postpone the trip, there were not tickets left… So I had to wait until last night to go. What a worth waiting. I was just taken out of this world for a whole evening, hoping it would never end. If you haven’t seen it yet, or are still hesitating, go, without a doubt in your mind. To me, Matilda is the best musical I’ve ever seen, jumping straight ahead of We Will Rock You (which has always been my all time favourite).

School of Rock London: Summer for US president*!!

Last night I was sitting in the fourth row, seat 17 (which is right in the middle and consequently the best seat in the room) of the New London Theatre, ready to watch School of Rock, the newest and one of the most exciting musical on my list. Brace yourself and run see it, it’s freaking tremendous.

Dead Funny by Terry Johnson with Katherine Parkinson: the play you will never expect but will enjoy thoroughly

Yesterday I went to the Vaudeville theatre to see a play called Dead Funny. I had found it on the TodayTix app and didn’t really know what it was, except that it was said to be funny. I love funny. So I took a ticket and went there for the matinee, at 2.30pm. It was nothing I could ever expect from a theater play but I di enjoy it extremely much nevertheless and do strongly advise it.
